Michigan field guide coverThis field guide is designed as a quick reference on climate change for northern Michigan forests. The intent is to highlight key information that can be used in the field or at your desk. We hope that this guide will help foresters consider climate change risks together with local site characteristics, and also that it will help people design adaptation actions that help meet management goals.

The field guide contains summary information from the larger climate change vulnerability assessments for forests in northern Michigan as well as northern Wisconsin and western Upper Michigan. It also draws from the Forest Adaptation Resources document.

We also provide tree species projections for different Ecological Sections in northern Michigan, rather than an average projection for the whole region. So foresters can easily find more localized information! Click here to download 2-page tree species handouts for each Michigan Ecological Section.

If you'd like a laminated, spiral-bound copy of the field guide (4" x 6"), email Stephen Handler.
